Spice jars at Anthropologie~clearance

I just had to let you all know that Anthropolgie's (item #973468) spice jars are on clearance. They were $5.00 and are now $1.95 a jar.

I think they are the cutest things. My sister was kind enough to tell me about them being on clearance. I am now a proud owner!

I thought I better let all of you know about this great deal as well. I can't forget about all of you!

I don't think I will be using mine for spices though! I can think of a bunch of different things to do with these. I think they would also be great to use at a wedding!

I also thought I better put a link to where I got this clock, as I get so many inquiries about it. I picked it up on a fun shopping trip with my mom at Maison Reve. If Yasmine doesn't have any left, the brand of it is Roost. I love her store and her style! I will be doing a post on her store in the future!

I want to say thank you to Holly, from Life in the Fun Lane for putting a link to me on your blog! You are so sweet. I think you and I would have fun painting furniture together. You are amazing. I have been following your blog since I discovered blogging.
Thank you to Camilla at Home for featuring my blog Dreamy Whites on your blog! I am a huge fan of Camilla at Home and am really honored to be featured on your blog.
Please take the time to check out these beautiful blogs!
Have a great weekend!
I have probably put you on pink camellia overload. Sorry, this WILL be my last picture with camellias, promise. I do have other flowers besides camellias, they just aren't in bloom yet!
Take Care,
Maria

An Invitation

Since we are close to Valentine's Day I thought I would share a few pictures of the wedding invitations I made for my sister's wedding. It was my first time making invitations, and I really enjoyed making them for my sister. Thanks Liz for giving me the opportunity to do this for you.

I think an invitation should give an idea of what one is to expect at the wedding. I wanted it to feel like you were receiving a gift in the mail. I wrapped the invitation, favor of a reply, and the map in a satin ribbon.

This is the envelope it would have come in.

My sister's colors were a peony pink and black. (I know these are not peonies, since peonies are out of season I had to use my camellias. (So please pretend with me, that they are!)

I used paper that had the texture and look of linen. For the background I laser scanned a piece of fabric with a flower design on it. I printed this on the invitation, the envelope, and the favor of a reply. I got this idea from Cath Kidston's in print book. (I highly recommend this book) My sister was putting her wedding together on a tight budget, so I printed them out on my laser printer. I wish we could of had them professionally letter pressed. That would have been really expensive though.

I love antique shell buttons. I felt like the invitation really needed something added to the top. So I stitched the button to the top of the invitation.

The favor of a reply was an already stamped postcard that just needed filled out and dropped in the mail. I l used their monograms on the front.

This is the other side of the post card

Liz wanted to have a map to go along with the invitation. We wanted it to seem vintage and unique. I asked Damian (my brother in law) to draw a map for us. Well this is what he came up with. I think the map was my favorite part of the whole invitation. Beings my sister's color were black and pink, this was a subtle way to add the black into the whole design. I laser scanned some tissue paper I had saved. I lightened it until it became kind of a newsprint black.

On Monday I will share a few pictures of my sister's wedding and share some decorating ideas with all of you. I am a little disappointed in how my pictures of them look on the blogger. Hopefully you get the idea.

I want to also let you all know about a fabulous giveaway. Federica from Sweet as a Candy (click here) is giving away a gorgeous pillow slip from Petit Coterie . She designs her pillow slips to look like vintage grain sacks. They are really sweet. Her shop is now added to my favorite shop site! You need to hop over to Federica's Sweet as a Candy blog and check it out. You won't be sorry. She has a beautiful blog as well. Good Luck!
Happy Valentine's Day.

My kids have a cattle show this weekend, so I won't be able to get back to any of you until after Sunday night. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Thank you again for all of your amazing encouragement. You are the neatest group of women! I feel blessed to be apart of your world!
Take Care,
Maria

A french chandelier paired with a farm table

This antique french chandelier is one of my favorite chandeliers that I own. There is something about it that is just so beautiful. I got this for a pretty good deal. I have seen them on ebay for 4 times the price I paid. They however are a bit of an investment. I do consider them an investment as the value of these chandeliers continue to increase with time. (It also is a great way of presenting it to the cowboy in the house)

It doesn't have all of it's original crystals, which I don't mind.

It has the prettiest little glass beading that goes around its entire frame. This is one of my favorite details. They glisten in the light and at night.

My husband added the 100 year old ceiling tin to this recessed ceiling area. My sister found this tin at a salvage yard in New Hampshire (sadly it isn't in business anymore) She kindly informed me about them and sent them my way. She knew I had been obsessively searching everywhere for 24 pieces of tin that were exactly the same. I painted the tin a high gloss ultra white. I was really happy how it turned out!

I love how the chandelier looks against the tin.

I love how it looks hovering over this farm table in my living room. I love pairing something fabulous like this chandelier with an old farm table. I think it helps ground the overall look!

I have another new blog friend to share with all of you! I am just loving her style (she loves whites as well). She is an interior designer named Lulu. (I just love her name) She has a fabulous blog. When I visit her blog I am feeling like I am getting a dose of Domino Magazine. I was a huge fan of Domino Magazine and was really sad when they went out of business.
Thank goodness for blogland!

I also want to direct you to Marley & Lockyer. She also has a fabulous blog. Ness has a giveaway that she is doing on her blog right now. She is giving away some of her own handmade items from her store. She makes the sweetest pillows and most adorable clay tags. I can think of a million things I would want to do with these tags. What I love about her pillows is everything about that pillow is done by Ness. She sews them, tea stains them herself, and prints her own design (my favorite is the la ballon design) on them. I am wondering when she will start harvesting her own cotton for the material. This girl is amazing! I can hardly wait to purchase a few from her.
You could be the lucky winner!
Have a wonderful day!
Maria
